Seeking a Development Assistant
12/13/2022

We are seeking an enthusiastic and experienced Development Assistant for the planning stages of a short narrative film. The primary goals of the Development Assistant will be to identify a fundraising and distribution strategy, organize fundraising events, and establish sustainable pathways for project completion. The Development Assistant will work directly with the project producers Katherine Clark and Adrian Colón.

About the project:

Francine’s Moon Landing is a short narrative film that uses sci-fi, magical realism, and comedy to tell the story of an untrained dancer who wins a one-way ticket to the moon. This project has been supported by The Philadelphia Independent Media Fund administered by Scribe Video Center with funds provided by the Independence Public Media Foundation and the Wyncote Foundation.

Deliverables will include:

  • Creating a one-year fundraising plan outline.

  • Creating a grant opportunity database and grant calendar.

  • Contacting potential funding opportunities (private, foundational, in-kind) to share project information.

  • Identifying a distribution plan: connecting with potential short film distribution partners, and connecting with festivals for premiere opportunities.

  • Creating and distributing a fundraising appeal letter.

  • Organizing and executing appropriate fundraising events.

Qualifications: This candidate should have at least 5 years of experience in marketing and development, filmmaking, producing, or a combination of experience in these areas. Familiarity with the Philadelphia region is preferred.

Timeline: The Development Assistant’s work will begin in mid January and conclude by early April.

Stipend: This role is a paid temporary position. A $2,000 stipend will be provided upon completion.

To apply: Please send your resume, a letter of interest, and 2-3 references to francinesmoonlandingfilm@gmail.com by January 10th.
